Two held on drug charges
Two people were charged with drug charges, including trafficking in fentanyl, following a tip to the Panama City Police Department Street Crimes Unit.
Investigators with the unit began receiving information about an amount of suspected fentanyl being transported into the city to a residence on 21st Place. SCU obtained a lawful search warrant and started surveillance on the residence.
A black Nissan SUV pulled into the yard of the residence and the investigators converged on the property and executed the search warrant. The passenger in the vehicle, Jessica Newton, 34, was found in possession of a half-ounce of suspected fentanyl, which has a street value of more than $4,000. The primary resident, Nathan Gidley, 37, was found in possession of methamphetamine.
Newton was charged with trafficking in fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia. Gidley was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of community control. Both were booked into the Bay County Jail.
