Mother charged with felony child neglect
A mother has been charged with felony child neglect after her two-year-old child ingested a drug-induced candy bar.
Detectives with Panama City Police Department were called to an apartment on Frankford Avenue in response to a child possibly overdosing. Upon arrival, officers found a two-year-old child conscious but severely impaired.
The mother of the child, Katilyn Marie Kiczek, 23, told detectives that she had a 500mg THC extract chocolate bar in her handbag and further stated that she left her two-year-old and a four-year-old sibling unattended, and the two-year-old began consuming the edible.
The two-year-old was taken to a local hospital for observation. Kiczek was charged with possession of THC extract, felony child neglect and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked into the Bay County Jail. The four-year-old was placed with family members.
