Panama City man charged with multiple charges
A Panama City man was charged with multiple counts after striking a school
resource officer and leaving the scene with a juvenile in the vehicle.
Patrol officers with the Panama City Police Department responded to Lucille Moore Elementary School around 1 p.m. Friday. Staff at the school said Jason Leewan Beene, 43, had arrived at the school to drop off a juvenile student, and they observed indicators that Beene was under the influence and called the school’s resource officer.
While attempting to conduct a DUI investigation, Beene attempted to leave in his vehicle with the juvenile inside, striking the SRO with the vehicle while driving through a fence at the school. He then continued westbound on 19th Street, striking another fence and another vehicle. The PCPD stopped Beene at the scene of the second accident. He attempted to flee again before he was apprehended.
Beene was charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, child abuse, resisting arrest with violence, driving under the influence, fleeing and eluding and three counts of hit and run. Beene was booked into the Bay County Jail.
