Tallahassee, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The No. 5 Florida State Men’s Golf team gets ready to compete in its second fall tournament of the 2023-24 academic year, preparing for the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational held on Sept. 15-17 at Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Ill.

The Seminoles will play the tournament for the 16th time – a sequence that began with the 2008 Fighting Illini Invitational. Since then, FSU has played in the tournament every year except 2021 when it didn’t compete in the fall season due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Of the 15 programs in the field, 14 are ranked or receiving votes in the first Golf Coaches Association of America Poll this season. All 15 programs competed in the 2023 NCAA Regionals.

The schools playing in the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational include Alabama (T13), Arizona (19), Arizona State (2), Baylor (RV), Florida (8), FSU (5), Georgia Tech (4), Illinois (9), Michigan State, North Carolina (1), Oklahoma State (16), Pepperdine (15), Purdue (RV), Stanford (7) and Texas (11).

In its opening tournament of the fall season, FSU finished eighth at the Folds of Honor Collegiate held at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Mich. Redshirt senior Cole Anderson shot a 2-over 73 in his final round and led the Seminoles, placing 16th.

The field includes seven of the eight teams that made up match play at the 2023 NCAA Championship: quarterfinalists Arizona State, Illinois, and Pepperdine; semifinalists Florida State and North Carolina; and finalists Florida and Georgia Tech.

All three rounds take placing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday can be followed via Golfstat.com.
