Seminoles Sweep Syracuse
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Florida State Volleyball earned its 10th win in its last 11 matches played as it swept Syracuse, 3-0 (25-12, 26-24, 25-19), in its annual Paint it Pink match on Sunday afternoon at Tully Gym.
The Seminoles (15-7, 9-1) improve to 9-1 in ACC play in what is their best 10-match start to conference play since 2018.
All 15 active student-athletes saw court time on Sunday, as junior right-side hitter Skye Ekes, freshman right-side hitter Maddie Snider and junior middle blocker Kiari Robey each led FSU with five kills apiece. Florida State attacked at a .272 clip and held the Orange (2-18, 0-10) to a .000 hitting percentage as they recorded 26 kills to 26 hitting errors.
Florida State recorded 13 team blocks in the three-set match, as Ekes and junior Khori Louis each led the way with four. Jelli Draskovic led FSU with 15 assists, while Kenna Phelan added 11 and Ashley Reynolds chipped in with two.
FSU managed to hang on in a close second set, as a service ace by the Orange tied up the set at 24-24. The Noles were the beneficiaries of a service error by Syracuse to give them set point at 25-24, and then a difficult set by the Orange forced an attack error that closed out the second set to FSU.
The Seminoles close out the match by hitting .333 in the third set, as senior Sydney Conley made an impact with three kills in the frame.
Florida State faces a tough test on the road next weekend, traveling to No. 5 Louisville on Friday, Oct. 27, for a 7 p.m. first serve. FSU then faces Notre Dame on Sunday at 1 p.m. in South Bend, Ind.
