Dat Cajun Place Cafe To Be Featured on America’s Best Restaurants
PANAMA CITY – Local restaurant Dat Cajun Place Cafe will be hosting a visit from America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) in late November 2023.
America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on November 28th. Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owners Jan and Trudy White about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.
The couple maintains Hurricane Katrina blew them over from Louisiana, and they ended up staying after losing everything in the storm. Trudy is a native Cajun whose mother and grandmother taught her to cook, and she began to serve friends and neighbors who encouraged her to open a restaurant. Dat Cajun Place opened in 2012.
The restaurant has custom Louisiana-themed artwork and decor, and a corrugated metal and wood interior with plenty of space for diners. They moved into a new location in 2021, and can seat about 250 people inside and another 80 to 90 on a covered patio. A stage provides a place for live music and entertainment; they have hosted such national acts as Wayne Toups, an American Cajun singer who calls his musical style ‘Zydecajun’.
With the tag line ‘Where You Go Out To Feel At Home’, the restaurant offers a wide variety of American and Cajun specialties, including their award-winning gumbo, oysters (2022 Best Oysters in Bay County winner), seafood baskets, burgers and po’boys, and daily specials.
Dat Cajun Place also won Best Meal For Your Money and Best New Restaurant in Bay County in 2022.
America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on location on Tuesday November 28th from 2 pm to 5 pm CST. The press is invited to attend.
